When the winter months have finally gone and your cold bones are finally being thawed by the summer sun, you’ll probably be spending most of your time outdoors, soaking up the sun. Most people get out of their house and head to the beach to enjoy the beautiful scenery and maybe even get a tan too but as much as you would like to have a little color on your pale skin, too much of it can make your skin inflamed. Sunburned skin is definitely painful especially when skin starts to peel so how can you deal with this problem?

Fortunately, there are some paleo remedies that can help soothe the discomfort that comes with sunburnt skin. Sounds interesting? Here are some remedies to get you started.

  • Cucumbers. One way to help you deal with sunburn is to get some cucumbers on hand. Since this vegetable is composed of 95% water, you’ll definitely cool down the pain coming from the affected parts of your skin and speed up the healing process too. What’s great about cucumbers is that they can reduce inflammation when applied directly on your skin.
  • Aloe vera. Another remedy that can banish your sunburn woes is aloe vera. The aloe gel that is found in its leaves can alleviate the irritation and inflammation caused by sunburn, and even improve healing too. Simply cut some aloe leaves to extract the gel and apply it on the sunburned areas. You will immediately feel some form of relief. You can repeat this treatment as many times as you want.
  • Hydrate. It’s easy to forget to drink water in the day especially when you have so many things in your mind. Unfortunately, the hot temperature can draw moisture from your body leaving your skin dry and prone to breakage and inflammation too especially when you spend time outside your home. With that being said, it is only right that you hydrate yourself so that your skin will remain nourished. Staying hydrated can also do wonders when you are sunburned so make sure that you drink up to 8 glasses of water every day or more even if you are an active person.
  • Coconut oil. Another possible paleo remedy to treating sunburn is to use coconut oil. This miracle oil can do wonders for your skin as the fatty acids present can protect you against inflammation while nourishing your skin in the process. Coconut oil can also prevent UV rays from damaging your skin which is why slathering some of this oil on your skin a few minutes before leaving your house is highly recommended.
  • Black tea. Tea leaves contain polyphenols that can boost the skin’s ability to resist UV damage especially when ingested. However, it appears that applying tea on the skin directly has its benefits too. Applying black tea on areas that are affected with sunburn can actually help soothe the pain and discomfort and can even boost healing. You can pop the black tea bags in the fridge for a few minutes to let them cool before placing on your sunburn for instant relief.
