Our hair can be our pride and joy as it helps frame our face adding to our overall beauty. You’ve probably spent a lot of money on various hair products just to keep your hair looking smooth, shiny, and bouncy. But there are some of us who end up having oily and greasy hair that seem to plaster our hair strands around our head, making us look as if we haven’t washed our hair at all.

Fortunately, there is always a solution to every problem which means that your greasy mane can be corrected using these home remedies.

Learn to shampoo correctly

You may think that you’ve already gotten shampooing your hair down pat, but you might be surprised that you are doing it all wrong. When using shampoo, you should simply massage it on your scalp rather than on your hair. Don’t use your nails when rubbing the product on the roots of your hair and scalp as it can cause more oils to be produced. Allow the lather to run down your hair strands instead when you rinse it.

Lemon’s acetic nature is actually good for regulating the pH levels of your hair and scalp while delivering a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals too. All that you have to do is to get the juice from two lemons and mix it with two cups of distilled water. You can mix in three teaspoons of honey too if you like. Apply it all over your hair and scalp then give it a good massage. Leave it on for five minutes then wash it off with lukewarm water.

Hair products for oily hair

No two shampoos work the same which is why you need to pay attention to what you are using. If your current shampoo makes your hair oilier than before, why not look for a clarifying shampoo which can help get rid of the excess oil on your hair and scalp? A mild baby shampoo can be useful too if you tend to sweat a lot and you need to wash your hair frequently.

Egg mask

Another home remedy that can help with your greasy hair is egg mask. You will need to add half a cup of whisked egg white on your damp hair and wait for 20 minutes before washing it off. Use a mild shampoo to cleanse your hair further. This can be used twice a week to help reduce the amount of oil your scalp is producing.
