1. Apples

While it is true “that an apple a day will keep the doctor away”, it is also true for bad breath. It can also help in deodorizing the enzymes in garlic. This is because of the polyphenols present in apples, these compounds break down the pungent substances
in garlic.

2.Drink tea

Studies show that drinking green tea or black tea can help reduce bad breath. Most particularly in green tea because of the antioxidants present in them. These are called polyphenols and it help destroy the growth of bacteria causing bad breath. It also helps in reducing those nasty sulfur compounds.

3. Water

Drinking water helps in the digestion process. Water helps flush food to the digestive system efficiently and helps to get rid of excess food in your mouth that causes bad breath.

4. Probiotic yogurt

Studies have shown that eating 6 ounces of yogurt daily can help reduce the level of odor causing bacteria in your mouth. This is because of the active cultures present in yogurt, such as such as Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus. They help compete with the bacteria present in your mouth that causes bad breath.

Go for the plain yogurt and avoid the varieties with added sugar because it can allow for bacterial growth in the body most especially the mouth.

5. Parsley

Parsley is considered to be a natural deodorizer because of its strong flavors. Also because if its green color which contains chlorophyll, a compound with antibacterial properties that break down sulfur compounds which is the cause of bad breath.

6. Almonds and other nuts

Due to the fiber rich content found in nuts, they act as toothbrushes. It also helps prevent the odor causing bacteria from staining your teeth.

7. Cherries

Cherries help destroy methyl mercaptan odor, a type of stinky gas produced due to the buildup of mouth bacteria. This fruit has the capacity to break up gas and help digest bits of foods before they cause bad breath.

8. Whole milk

Studies have shown that the fats and water present in whole milk is effective in flushing out the odor-causing effects of a meal with garlic.
