Ingredients:

2 to 3 large-sized firm tomatoes

2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

-Place several pieces of kitchen paper on a large serving tray. Arrange tomato slices neatly on it.

-Sprinkle kosher salt and allow tomatoes to stand for 15 minutes.

-In the meantime, get your oven preheated to 250°F — that’s equivalent to 120°C.

-After the 15 minutes have passed, grab another serving tray and line it with several pieces of kitchen paper.

-One by one, transfer sliced tomatoes on it, this time facing downwards.

-Sprinkle a little kosher salt. Let stand for about 5 minutes.

-Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer tomato slices on it, shaking off kosher salt.

-Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle a little finely-ground black pepper.

-Bake them for about 6 to 8 hours — yes, that’s how long it takes for tomato chips to cook to perfection!

-It’s a good idea to check every 3 hours or so.

-If you want your homemade tomato chips a bit moist, bake for only 6 hours. Otherwise, let them bake for 8 full hours.

-Allow to cool on a wire rack for an hour, and then serve or transfer to an airtight container.
