Homemade Cleaner Recipes You Should Try

Must read

People nowadays are seeing the wisdom of switching to safer household cleaners especially when there are kids and pets around. Not only that, these environment friendly cleaners are also good for our utensils, floors, tiles, and the like. You see, harsh chemicals that leave that noxious fume when opened, can do more than damage the quality of our home, but they can also affect our overall health. Use them frequently and you will find that there are signs and symptoms starting to appear as poor eyesight, respiratory problems, and so on. This is scary to be honest which is why making your own cleaners is worth trying out. Here are a few recipes that you can do.

Wooden floor cleaner

If you have beautiful wooden floors that you don’t want to mess up when cleaning, making your own cleaner can be of use. You will need a gallon container where you can mix all the ingredients needed such as castille soap, lemon essential oils, and vinegar. Fill the jug with water until the water curves then add about ¼ cup of vinegar to it. Follow this up with 8 tablespoons of castille soap then add about 30 drops of lemon essential oil. You can actually use any essential oil that you like such as grapefruit and orange. Close the container properly then shake thoroughly. You can use it on your floor afterwards.

Brass cleaner

In this recipe, you will need lemon juice or white vinegar as well as table salt. When cleaning non-lacquered pulls for cabinets, dampen a sponge with lemon juice or vinegar then add some salt to it. Rub lightly on the surface then rinse with water. Make sure that you dry it quickly to prevent it from eroding as vinegar and lemon can be highly acidic.

Heavy duty scrub

Grime, dirt, and stains can make our bathroom and sink look terrible. Regular home cleansers are not that effective while some are a bit harsh on the tiles. A better option would be to use half a cup of borax and half a lemon. All that you have to do is to dip some lemon into the borax and use it to scrub the surface. Rinse afterwards. A word of caution though as this combination is not ideal for granite or marble as it can tarnish the surface.

Cloth stain remover

You’ve probably made a mess with your clothes and now they have stains on them. Well, the good news is that with a few ingredients, you can actually remove them. You will need a gallon of hot water, a cup of chlorine bleach, and a cup of powdered dishwasher. Combine all the ingredients in a plastic or stainless steel bowl or tub then soak your stained clothes there for about 15 to 20 minutes. If the stain remains, let your clothes soak longer.
