When you mention green tea, the first thing that will pop in your head is a healthy beverage that is packed with antioxidants that will help you with your weight loss goals. But aside from this, did you know that you can also use green tea for caring for your hair?
There are several ways in which you can incorporate this ingredient to your hair care habits and some of these are written below.
Green tea hair grow mask. If you want to speed up your hair growth, you can make a hair grow mask with green tea. You will need some matcha green tea and a tablespoon of coconut oil. Mix the two ingredients then apply on parted hair. Leave the mask on for thirty minutes then rinse with shampoo. You can use this treatment twice a week to stimulate hair growth.
Green tea hair rinse. Another way to use green tea for your hair is to make a hair rinse out of it. Hair rinses are designed to stimulate hair growth, prevent hair problems like dandruff, and minimizes hair loss just to name a few. You will need to place two green tea bags in a 2 to 3 cups of boiling water and let them steep for a few minutes. Remove the tea bags and allow the liquid to cool. After you wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner, use this solution as the final rinse. Massage it on your hair for a few minutes then use normal water for another rinse and you are done. You can repeat this daily to make your hair grow stronger and healthier.
Green tea dandruff treatment. Dandruff is a common hair problem that affects both men and women. Those who have dry scalp tend to rely on medications to soothe the offending itch, but why spend money on over-the-counter drugs when you can use green tea? To treat dandruff naturally, you should boil a cup of water in a pan then add two tablespoons of green tea leaves, a tablespoon of coconut oil, and a lemon peel. Let it boil for another two minutes before removing from heat. Once it cools, apply the solution on your hair using cotton balls and massage the dandruff treatment on your scalp for a few minutes. Leave it on for 45 minutes then rinse with shampoo. Aside from getting rid of dandruff, this treatment can also stimulate hair growth.
Green tea hair spray. Hair sprays are perfect for those times when your hair becomes unruly or are sporting some split ends that you want to hide. Fortunately, making your own green tea hair spray is quite easy and can deliver some amazing results too. To start, just brew 2 cups of green tea then transfer in a spray bottle once cooled. Spray this mixture in your hair from top to bottom then massage for a few minutes. Let the solution sit for 20 to 30 minutes then rinse with your regular shampoo. If you want more fragrance, choose flavored green tea.
Green tea conditioner. Did you know that you can also use green tea as a conditioner? You can steep two bags of green tea in a cup of hot water then add a tablespoon each of honey and coconut oil. Mix the ingredients thoroughly then apply on your hair and scalp. Leave it on for 30 minutes. What’s great about this solution is that the honey is known for moisturizing your hair so that it will have a nice sheen to it. The green tea, on the other hand, can prevent hair loss.
