Summer is all about having fun under the sun, in the beach, where the ocean is but a few feet away. This is also the season for baring more skin which is why you’re probably looking for ways in maintaining your smooth, velvety skin even when you’re out sunbathing. Yes, there are plenty of skin care products that can nourish and moisturize your skin but sometimes, you will need to give your skin a nice good scrub to show off healthy skin underneath. Fortunately, you can make some body scrubs on your own and the best part is that you’ll be using natural ingredients for the best results.

Raspberry Lemon Sugar Scrub. Sugar scrubs are perfect for scrubbing off the accummulated dead skin on your body as the tiny granules of the sugar can easily remove them with gentle massage. What’s even better is that the ingredients are few and the process is easy. You will need ¾ c to 1c of granulated sugar, ¼ c of coconut oil, 2 to 4 drops of red food coloring, 10 to 15 drops of lemon extract, and 10 to 15 drops of raspberry extract. You will need to melt the coconut oil first using a microwave. Just heat it up for 20 to 25 seconds. Add the sugar then mix it thoroughly. If your scrub appears to be juicy, just add more sugar and keep mixing. You can add the food coloring to give your scrub a nice pinkish color. Just combine the essential oils and extract to achieve your desired scent. Store the mixture into airtight containers after.

Lavender Vanilla Scrub. If you are aiming for a soothing scrub, the combination of lavender and vanilla is guaranteed to get you the results you need. Vanilla can leave your skin smooth and supple, while thte lavender can help you relax. This is perfect for when you take a shower before bed time as your body will feel lighter while the scent can help you drift off to sleep. For this scrub, you will need 1 cup of grape seed oil, 2 tablespoons of dried lavender (optional), 2 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 12 drops of lavender essential oil. Get a medium sized bowl and put all the ingredients in it. Mix them thoroughly. Store the mixture in a jar and make sure that you stir it first before using.

Coconut Salt Scrub. Cracked feet can be a pain when you go to the beach what with the fine sand embedding themselves to the fine lines that crisscross the soles of your feet and heels. To treat this problem fairly quickly, you will need to make a coconut salt scrub. You will need coarse salt, coconut scent, and coconut oil. You can also add vitamin E oil to further nourish and repair your heels. All that you have to do is to combine your coarse salt with the oils using a 2:1 ratio. If you are just going to use one oil for your scrub, just mix a cup of coarse salt with half a cup of oil. Add 3 to 4 drops of your essential oil then mix. Transfer to an airtight container and it’s ready to use.
