How to Apply Mascara like a Pro

Must read

Applying mascara, for some women, is quite challenging and many have experienced smudging during application to the point that they just give up on this makeup product because they just can’t get it right. It’s not that hard to understand especially when you’re not really sure on how to work it properly which is why it pays to read up on the step-by-step approach to utilizing this amazing makeup.

So for those who want to add more drama to their eyes with the help of mascara, follow these steps and you’ll get the best results.

Choose the right one.

First things first, you need to choose a mascara that is appropriate for you. There are several factors that you need to take into account when it comes to this such as color, waterproof, and consistency. Although black is a popular choice, blondes are better off with mascara that comes in brown. You should also consider whether your mascara should be waterproof when you’re doing activities that will make you sweat or when you decide to go for a swim. As for the consistency, think of whether you want to lengthen, volumize, or speed up growth.

Prep your eyes.

The next step would be to prepare your eyes prior to applying makeup. This means removing any traces of makeup, oil, or even grime that can ruin your makeup. Follow this up with some toner and moisturizer. Apply primer before you swipe some eyeshadow on your eyelids.

Use a liner.

The liner can help make your eyes appear bigger or more dramatic depending on how thick the liner will be. This is entirely up to you.

Curl your lashes.

Now that you have prepped your eyes properly, you can now start by curling your lashes. The curler must be put at the base of the upper lashes, close the curler, and hold it for a few seconds. Repeat with the other eye.

Pull the lashes inwards.

When applying mascara, you should start by using the mascara brush to pull the eyelashes inwards. This should be done three times to get the desired results.

Pull upwards.

Afterwards, the next step would be to pull your lashes upwards. Again, use your mascara wand to pull your lashes in this direction three times to help separate them from each other.

Coat your lashes.

Now, coat your lashes evenly with your mascara. Apply the mascara in a wriggling motion starting at the roots. This will help coat them properly and add more volume to them rather than on the tips of your lashes where they can become heavy in appearance. Repeat the steps with the other side until they are evenly coated with your choice of mascara.

Repeat with the lower lashes.

Aside from the upper lashes, you should also apply mascara on your lower lashes. Apply your mascara gently as much as possible. If you want to avoid staining the skin under your eyes while applying mascara, place a board underneath or a tissue even to protect your skin.

Banish the clumps.

Clumps can happen from time to time which is why it is always a good idea to have a clean wand on hand. Just brush it against your eyelashes to remove any clumps that have build up in them.
