8 Must Try Makeup Primer Tricks

Must read

What is a make-up primer? If you’re not familiar with it, primer probably seems like an extra or probably an unnecessary make-up step. But if you are familiar with it, you know what an AMAZING thing a primer can be.

With primer your makeup blends easily and the most important thing is it doesn’t smear scrub off. It helps your makeup to last much longer and gives your makeup something to hold onto. Read on below for more tips and tricks.

1. ACNE PRODUCTS

Too much acne-fighting products can cause skin inflammation and irritation. So if your primer already has anti-acne ingredients skip any spot products or treaments with the same components.

2. AROUND YOUR EYES

If you gently pat on the lids and around the eyes, primer acts as a three-in-one. It prevents makeup from creasing or smudging by absorbing oils. It also counteracts redness and softens crow’s-feet.

3. TINTED PRIMERS

If you have dull skin then light pink primers, can add a glow. Green primers neutralize redness while Lilac colors brighten sallow skin.

4. GO FOR LESS

Makeup expert Sandy Linter says that an overload of primer causes your primer to pill under your foundation. Just a small drop of primer or the size of raisin will do. Then rub gently on the skin for even coverage.

5. SMOOTH YOUR NECK, SHOULDERS AND CHEST AREA

Expert Linter says that aside from primer working on your cheeks, lashes, eyes and lips, primer can work on other areas as well. Apply primer on your chest, shoulders, hands and neck to fill in fine lines and to even out makeup.

6. GO FOR THAT LASHES BOOSTS

Under your regular mascara, apply a primer for that longer and thicker lashes. Just always remember to limit your mascara to two coats if you don’t want to end up with a clumpy mess.

7. LIP PRIMER

Dab on a lip primer to prevent your lipstick from settling into lines. Don’t have a lip primer? You can also use a primer for your face.

8. APPLY POWDER FOR THE FINISH

Cosmetic chemist Ni’Kita Wilson says that you must follow this order to help set your makeup: primer first, then liquid foundation or a tinted moisturizer and last is a translucent powder.
