Useful Tips on Recovering from a C-Section

Must read

For expecting parents, giving birth is a momentous event. All the sweat, blood, and tears that come from you as you push your baby out in the world can take a toll on your body. This is especially true to mothers who had a caesarean section, or C-section, as it is commonly known. Although this method of giving birth saves you a lot of pain during delivery, the recovery period is going to take a while as opposed to a normal delivery because this is a major surgery. The good news is that there are ways in which you can speed up the healing process after a C-section. Here are some useful tips to help you out.

Rest up

Like it was mentioned before, C-section is a major surgery, which means that you’ll be spending up to four days at least in the hospital while you are being monitored. If there are complications, you might stay longer. But for mothers who have a baby who needs your attention, rest is the last thing you need. But, even though it’s easier said than done, you do need to rest and recuperate from the ordeal. If your baby sleeps, take advantage of it and get some rest too. Your family will be happy to take up the slack in keeping an eye on your little one.

Use night gowns

When you have a C-section, anything that touches your incision is going to be painful so skip the pants especially when you are going to bed and invest on night gowns instead. This is especially useful when you are in the hospital because you are lessening the problems that you have to deal with while recuperating. You’ll feel more yourself too after giving birth when you are in your own comfy clothes.

Be careful with your body

It’s not just your baby who needs that extra love and care. You too should put a lot of effort in pampering your body especially after getting a C-section. Start with keeping everything that you need for your baby or for yourself within arms reach so you won’t have to bend or climb the stairs to get them. Also, avoid lifting heavy stuff as it can cause your stitches to tear.

Walk around

What else can you do to speed up your recovery after a C-section? Take a walk as long as you are cleared to do so by your doctor. Walking helps your blood to circulate better which can improve your condition significantly. It does help release the gas in your body too which is a plus.
