Don’t Over Exfoliate

You have to resist the urge to exfoliate daily. We all know that our skin need to be exfoliated regularly to prevent clogging and to keep it smooth. However, over exfoliating can irritate the skin and strip off the natural oils that keep the skin healthy. Using a harsh loofah everyday can make the skin appear duller. Use a gentle exfoliant on your skin every 3 days and longer if you have dry skin. When taking a shower use a gentle loofah or cloth, and deep exfoliate the skin once a week; more if you live or work where you are constantly dirty or sweating.

Moisturizing Right

One of the most important things we need to do is to moisturize our skin to make it smooth and glowing. We make the common mistake of only moisturizing once a day and applying it without patting the skin dry. When moisturizing, it is best just a few minutes after your shower or facial cleansing. This is the time where the skin is able to absorb moisture the best, and the moisturizer locks it in. Never apply our moisturizer when it is still damp since it can reduce the potency of the product. Pat dry the skin before application and continue the patting motion until the moisturizer is absorbed. Apply moisturizer again in the middle of the day, but remove any excess oil on your skin first. If you have a facial mist, use it and pat dry your skin before applying your moisturizer.

Highlighting for A Subtle Glow

Highlighting areas all over your body can give you that subtle glow without appearing to costume-y or extravagant. Place it in strategic areas to make it appear glowing. Areas such as the cheekbones, outer arm area, collar bone, the T-zone and the middle of the lips can give you a subtle glowing appearance.

Tinted Moisturizer or BB Cream

There are now tinted moisturizer that contains a bit of glow in them. Either it is from some Bronzing powder in the product or hints of glitter. This can help give the skin that certain glow when planning to go with a no make-up look. The consistency of the product can also make the skin appear dewy and soft. When using this type of product avoid using a highlighter, it can make the skin appear too oily.

No to Hot Showers

Hot showers feel great and can surely help relax our body, but it can be incredibly bad for the skin. The temperature can dry out the skin. If you really can’t sleep without taking a hot shower – finish off with a cold spritz or protect the sensitive areas from the heat. You can use ice on the face and other sensitive areas to reduce dryness.
