7 Most Unhealthy Foods You Shouldn’t Eat

Must read

There is nothing wrong with indulging yourself from time to time. Most of us tend to have pizzas, cakes laden with frosting, ice cream, and even chips, especially when you are in a celebratory mood. You don’t really have to worry yourself too much since it is much harder to go cold turkey or avoid them altogether because of a strict diet that you are following which can easily backfire.

However, making junk food part of your daily diet is not really recommended as they do not contain much nutritional value at all. Here are a few unhealthy foods that health experts suggest that you should avoid as much as possible.

Bagels

For those who are prone to skin breakouts and still enjoy eating bagels in the morning, you might want to reconsider your food choices. The problem with bagels is that they are packing high glycemic index which can cause your insulin levels to spike thus triggering that inflammation in your body. When this happens, it can leave you prone to faster aging and even appearance of rosacea too.

Hot dogs

We’re all guilty of eating hot dogs, and it seems that we really need to wean ourselves from having it regularly as this processed food is filled with nitrates, dyes, chemicals, and whatnot that can be hazardous to your health. A better option would be to look for nitrite-free sausages, or even make your own to ensure that you are able to control the ingredients you are using.

Soda

Removing soda from your diet is highly recommended as this drink comes with at least 10 times the amount of sugar. Normally, the recommended amount of sugar that women can consume per day is 24 grams. Soda, on the other hand, is packing way more than the recommended amount hence you should skip this beverage entirely. It would be a good idea to stick with water instead.

Stick margarine

Instead of going for stick margarine when it comes to baking or topping your dish, go for soft spread or regular butter instead. Margaret is packed with trans fat that is not doing your health any good. The problem is that margarine is found in microwave popcorn, crackers, and pastries just to name a few.

Fast food salads

You may think that fast food salads are better for you, but they are not. Some may even contain more calories compared to burgers and their side of fries. Before you do order a salad in a fast food joint, make sure that you do your research first to avoid those excess calories. The best option here is to prepare your own salad instead.

Microwave popcorn

Isn’t it great to be able to pop some corn in your microwave and munch it while watching your favorite movie on your TV? Microwavable popcorns are convenient and they come in different flavors too! The problem, however, is that it comes with artificial butter that is made from chemicals that can wreak havoc on your body. Better pop some corn kernels instead and add real butter instead to ensure that you have a healthy snack to indulge in.

Bacon

Having bacon for breakfast may be a staple in your dining table, but you need to rethink your choice of fuel as each strip comes with high amounts of sodium which can lead to water retention and bloating. If you want that extra crunch to your breakfast, baked vegetables or nuts even are much better to your overall health. But if you have to have one, just crumble a single strip over your egg, sandwiches, or salads even.
