Must read

Itchy scalp can be bothersome especially when the urge to scratch is high. Unfortunately, scratching your head in public will earn you a lot of weird stares which is why you should look for ways to stop the itch as soon as possible. There are many factors that can contribute to itchy scalp such as dry scalp, poor diet, viral and fungal infections, anxiety, and stress just to name a few. Leaving the problem alone won’t make it go away. What you need to do is to step up and start taking matters into your own hands by treating the problem immediately. The good news is that there are natural remedies that can alleviate the problem. Here are a few that you should take advantage of.

Lemon juice

When it comes to treating your itchy scalp, you don’t have to look far than lemon juice. The acidic nature of lemon juice can actually eliminate any fungal, viral, or bacterial infection that is wreaking havoc on your scalp. To use this home remedy, you will need some lemon juice that has been harvested fresh. You will need to apply the juice on your scalp evenly then leave it on for about 5 to 7 minutes or so. Shampoo your hair afterwards and rinse thoroughly.

Aloe vera

Another natural remedy that can help with your itchy scalp is aloe vera. You will find that the moisturizing properties of aloe vera can actually correct the itching and dryness of your scalp. The gel is found on the leaves of the plant itself which you can harvest and apply on your scalp with the help of the fingers. Let the gel sit for 10 to 15 minutes before washing your hair with your choice of shampoo.

Apple cider vinegar

If you want to save your scalp from constant itching, you will find that apple cider vinegar is going to be a big help. Just like lemon, the acidic nature of apple cider vinegar can actually remove any infection that may be causing your scalp to dry up. You will need to mix equal parts of water and vinegar into a spray bottle then shake to blend them properly. Pour the mixture onto your scalp and massage it for a few minutes. Shampoo your hair afterwards then rinse thoroughly. There may be a lingering scent from the vinegar but this will eventually fade.

Coconut oil

What else can save your scalp from itching? Well, coconut oil is your best bet because it is known for its moisturizing effects by creating a barrier on your scalp to lock in the moisture. All that you have to do is to apply a small amount of coconut oil on your scalp after washing it then leave it on for thirty minutes. Wash it off afterwards with fragrance-free shampoo. You should do this at least three times a week to remove any itching, dandruff, and scalp problems that you may have.
