How to Make Crispy and Nutritious Zucchini Fries

Must read

Fries — they’re definitely one of those treats that you should turn your back on if you want to keep unwanted pounds and heart disease at bay. But if you are already missing the taste and crunch of these golden-colored elongated beauties, worry not. That’s because it’s still possible for you to enjoy them without ruining your figure and health.

What you need to do is get your hands on a couple of zucchinis and you are ready to amaze your taste buds with some of the healthiest and crispiest fries to grace the planet ever!

Yes, you can easily turn a pair of zucchinis which are some of the most disliked vegetables out there into fries. Making them even so much friendly to your health is the fact that they are baked and not deep fried in trans fat- and cholesterol-rich oil like the kinds you can easily get your hands on at your favorite fast food joint.

So if you are ready to welcome some fries into your life without endangering your waistline and arteries, continue reading. Here’s the easiest recipe for making crispy and nutritious zucchini fries:

Ingredients:

2 medium-sized zucchinis

1 medium-sized egg

1/2 cup of bread crumbs

1/4 cup of parmesan cheese (grated)

Black pepper (ground)

Sea salt (finely ground)

Directions:

-Get started by having the oven preheated to 220°C — that’s equivalent to about 430°F.

-Wash zucchinis thoroughly under running water.

-Trim off the ends and slice zucchinis in half crosswise.

-Afterwards, cut them into strips measuring about half an inch in thickness.

-Grab a mixing bowl and combine bread crumbs and grated parmesan cheese.

-Add a little ground black pepper and sea salt. Mix very well.

-In another mixing bowl, beat egg white. Save the yolk for some other use.

-Place all of the zucchini strips in the mixing bowl and stir to cover each one of them with egg white.

-One by one, coat each zucchini strip with the bread crumb and grated parmesan cheese mix.

-Neatly place coated zucchini strips on a large baking sheet that’s lined with aluminum foil.

-Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, flipping over zucchini strips halfway.

-Transfer the baking sheet on a wire rack once the zucchini strips are golden brown.

-Place on a serving dish and enjoy with your favorite dip — of course a healthy one is recommended.

That’s how trouble-free it is to make zucchini fries with your own two hands. You can be sure that they are nothing like those deep fried goodies from fast food joints that are loaded with trans fat and cholesterol.
