The skin surrounding the eyes is very delicate. This may cause further bruising. Another great alternative is to use frozen vegetables or meat.

Warm Compress

After applying your cold compress, you need to apply warm compresses to the area. This will help improve the blood flow in the tissue around the eye and help speed up the healing process. You can dip a clean cloth in hot water. Squeeze out the excess water and apply the warm cloth on the eye and leave it to cool. Once it is cool repeat the process. DO this several times a day. If the skin around your eyes is not tender. Massage it lightly to improve the blood circulation under the skin.

Vitamin C

When you suffer from a black eye, it is important to eat a diet rich in vitamin C. Foods that are rich in vitamin C such as guavas, limes, lemons, mangos, oranges, broccoli, peppers, Indian gooseberries and grapefruit can help with the healing process. You can also use supplements to get your body’s daily dose.

Keep Your Head Elevated

Once you acquire your injury keep your head elevated, up until your injury heal keep it elevated. Lying down flat or keep your body level when you sleep or rest will decrease the blood flow. This will cause the blood to accumulate in the area and cause it to darken, making it appear worse. Keep your head elevated by sleeping or resting in chair. You can also use a pillow behind your head and neck to keep it elevated when you sleep.

Herbal Remedies

There are no actual remedies that can help cure black eye, but there can be topical remedies that can help improve healing. Arnica is an herb that can be bought in topical, oil or ointment. Apply this on your black eye to help reduce irritation. Another famous herb is witch hazel, it has a healing and soothing effect that can help improve damage skin. Extra virgin olive oil can also help reduce inflammation and swelling. Massage these natural remedies by gently on the skin three times a day.

Check for further damage in the eye by scanning the white portion of the eye and the iris. If you notice any blood in these areas, you could have injured your eye and may cause permanent damage.
