6 Beauty Tricks for Oily Skin

Must read

t is said that having oily skin is actually good as it keeps signs of premature aging at bay, but when your skin is producing too much oil, you might end up with too shiny a face that makes you look greasy and unkempt. What’s more, too much oil production can leave you susceptible to whiteheads, blackheads, and other skin blemishes because your pores are too large. Fortunately, there are several beauty tricks that you can use to address your oily skin easily.

Lemon and honey

If you want to bring back the natural glow of your skin and not just because it is too oily, then you will need some lemon and honey to help you out. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice then dip a cotton ball into the mix and apply on your face and neck. Massage the mixture onto your skin for 3 to 4 minutes then wash it off afterwards with lukewarm water. Lemon can help brighten your skin and get rid of any buildup in your pores while honey can fight off bacteria.

Always wear sunscreen

Just because you have oily skin, it doesn’t mean that you should forego wearing sunscreen. Without proper protection against the sun, you are leaving your skin prone to spots, dry skin, and even premature aging too. Choose a sunscreen that has enough SPF in it to keep the sun’s rays from damaging your skin.

Do the ice cube facial

Like it was mentioned before, those with oily skin tend to have overly large pores that can actually make the skin appear dry and rough. A good remedy for this is to wrap two to three ice cubes in a muslin cloth and rub it on your freshly washed face for 2 to 3 minutes. Focus more on areas of your face that tend to shine often. The cold temperature of the ice cubes can actually reduce the size of the pores, reduce the swelling and redness of acne, and can actually rejuvenate your skin too.

Do not forget your moisturizer

Another beauty trick that you need to follow at all times is to use a moisturizer on your skin. Even when you hav oily skin, your skin still needs moisture to retain its youthful glow. Without enough moisture, your skin will be producing more oil to compensate for it. Choose a moisturizer that will not leave your skin feeling greasy while delivering the much needed moisture to your parched skin.

Apple cider vinegar and cucumber

You can also make an apple cider vinegar and cucumber toner to deal with oily skin. ACV acts as an oil-controlling and skin firming toner while the juice from the cucumber can hydrate and soothe your skin. To make your own toner, you will need to mix 3 tablespoons of cucumber juice with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Soak a cotton ball in this solution and wipe it on your face. Leave it on for 2 to 3 minutes then wash it off with cool water.

Exfoliate your skin

It is also important that you exfoliate your skin once a week. This can help remove buildup of dead skin cells while boosting the appearance of new and healthy cells on your skin. You can make your own exfoliating scrub using natural ingredients like sugar and honey which can have different skin benefits.

Having oily skin may be a source of embarrassment to you but the good news is that you can treat it easily enough with the tricks mentioned above. It’s all just a matter of finding the best routine to follow to minimize the oil your skin is producing.
