Already getting bored with your bowl of oatmeal or fresh vegetable salad? There’s a fix for that, and it’s something as simple as sprinkling a little honeyed walnuts on it. Sweet and super crunchy, including them in your diet can also help boost your intake of protein, healthy fat, fiber and vitamin E.
Making honeyed walnuts from scratch is really free of trouble. That’s because you only need to get your hands on two ingredients — walnuts and honey.
When it comes to the roasting part, you only need to know how to have your oven preheated. What’s more, there is no need to spend a lot of time in your kitchen because all it takes is about 15 minutes for you to be able to produce honeyed walnuts that are perfect as toppings and for healthy snacking, too!
Crunchy walnuts that are covered in honey are the superb toppings because they add texture and also improve the taste of whatever treat they are placed on — that’s one of the benefits offered by healthy fat in walnuts.
But their healthy fat content offers so many other perks, too. They are good for the heart as well as brain and nerves. They are also protectors of the joints, keeping them from becoming inflamed and achy. And did you know that healthy fat in walnuts and other food sources of it is needed for the absorption of vitamins A, D, E and K?
And speaking of vitamins, walnuts are phenomenal sources of vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that helps delay the aging of the skin. So in other words, walnuts are anti-aging treats!
Now let’s put the spotlight on the other ingredient, which is honey.
Provided that you opt for raw and organic honey, you can obtain all sorts of health benefits from it. Everyone knows that honey is an excellent soother of a sore and an irritated throat. It has powerful antimicrobial properties that can help reduce one’s risk of infection. Honey is also packed with lots of antioxidants, making it a superb cancer fighter!
When you combine walnuts and honey, great things can happen — both in the kitchen and your body!
