Essential Oils for Rosacea

Must read

Rosacea is a type of skin condition where the symptoms include redness, itching, flushing, and sensitivity. Sometimes, acne does break out on the affected parts which is why this condition is referred to as acne rosacea. For the more severe cases, the skin becomes hard especially around the nose. Although there is still no information as to what causes this problem and the cure is yet to be found, there are several remedies that can help lessen the issue such as essential oils. If you want to alleviate your rosacea issue, try these essential oils out.

Chamomile oil.

Chamomile oil is harvested through steam distillation from the plant’s flowers where the azulene in the oil is found to have calming and soothing effects. When this oil is applied on the skin, it can treat inflammation and redness easily. You can combine it with a carrier oil such as olive oil or almond oil if you like.

Geranium essential oil

Another essential oil that is good for the skin is geranium essential oil. What makes this a useful treatment is that it contains antioxidant, antibacterial, astringent, and anti-inflammatory properties that can neutralize the redness and swelling on your skin. Rosacea has a tendency to weaken the capillaries and pores of the skin but this can be reversed by this essential oil. This oil can prevent outbreaks from occurring while its scent can keep stress at bay to prevent another trigger.

Jojoba oil

You should also try using jojoba oil when dealing with rosacea. This particular oil is harvested from ground or crushed seeds of the jojoba plant. The oil actually resembles that of the oil that our skin naturally produces which means that it can be used directly on the skin. It soothes the skin and can fight off the bacteria that may be lingering on the surface as well as pores of your skin. Another plus to using jojoba is that it can keep your skin moisturized too.

When applied to the skin it will help alleviate the dryness, reduce redness, and even get rid of the itching too. The oil has the ability to stimulate the growth of new cells while healing the damaged ones. Simply put a few drops of the oil on your fingers and apply on the skin. You can also add a few drops to your skin care products if you like to get the same benefits.

Rose hip oil

What’s great about rose hip oil is that it contains high amounts of essential fatty acid, GLA. Keep in mind the essential fatty acids play a part on the manufacturing and maintaining of healthy cell membranes which make the nutrients be absorbed fairly quickly.
