Homemade Toners Perfect for Oily Skin

Must read

The right toner can mean a lot to those with oily skin because without it, the extra oil that their skin is producing creates a layer of grease on their skin, leaving them prone to acne breakouts and other skin issues. Although it has been said that those with oily skin tend to age slowly, that extra shine on their skin can cause some problems too.

Most women with oily skin treat their skin with cleanser but sometimes this is not enough. What you need to add to your beauty routine is a toner so that any remaining dirt, oil, and other impurities can be removed while restoring the pH levels of your skin. However, the toners that are frequently sold today are a bit harsh on the skin because of the chemicals that they contain. If you want to help your oily skin, it would be better if you stick with homemade toners like the ones below.

Cucumber toner. Cucumber is perfect as a toner as it has soothing properties which your skin will enjoy. Not only that, but cucumber also has the ability to close your pores to reduce oil production without drying your skin completely. First, you will need to chop cucumber into small pieces. You need to put 2 cups of water in a pan and add the cucumber pieces. Get the water to boil to reduce it by half. Remove the pan from the heat and allow to cool. Blend the water and cucumber then store in a container. Soak a pad in the solution and apply on your face. Do this two times in a day.

Mint toner. Mint is considered as a natural toner as it has cooling and astringent properties that can regulate your oil production. To make this toner, you need to boil three cups of water before adding a handful of mint leaves to it. Keep the water boiling until it is reduced in half. Remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool. Strain the mixture as you transfer it into another container. Use a cotton pad and soak it in the solution to wipe your face with. This is suitable after cleansing your face for further cleaning.

Apple cider vinegar toner. Apple cider vinegar is well known for its numerous benefits including reducing inflammation, detoxifying your body from impurities, and getting rid of any bad smell that emanates from you. And because of this, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to find that it can also be used as a toner. All that you have to do is to mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a cup of water. Soak your cotton ball or pad in it and use it to wipe your face to remove any remaining dirt or greasy residue.

Aloe vera toner. If you are growing aloe vera in your garden then you might want to take advantage of its natural toning properties. What’s great about this plant is that it can help restore your skin’s pH balance so that your skin will produce less oil. The aloe’s astringent properties help close your pores to reduce oil production. For this toner, you will need to harvest about 2 tablespoons of the gel and mix it with 3 to 4 tablespoons of cold water. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and use a cotton ball to apply it on your face. You should repeat this twice in a day.
