Large or open pores are often present in those who have oily skin. These pores are quite visible especially around the T-zone area. Although they are not harmful, they can still be a source of worry since open pores can lead to whiteheads and blackheads when dirt, sweat, and oil mix and exposed to air. When this happens, these open pores can appear bigger and more visible which can be a source of embarrassment. Fortunately, there are steps that can help make your open pores less visible using home remedies. Here are some recommended treatments for you to try.

Apple cider vinegar

This home remedy is useful when it comes to making your pores appear smaller because it acts as a toner and astringent. This means that it can help tighten your skin, bring back the natural pH balance of your skin, and minimize the size of your pores. Another reason why you should add this to your skin care routine is that it has antimicrobial as well as anti-inflammatory properties that can fight off acne. To use this home remedy, just mix equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl. Place a cotton ball in it to soak up the solution then apply on your face. Allow the solution to be absorbed by your skin for a few minutes before rinsing. This is best used at night after you cleanse your face.

Aloe vera

Another way to reduce the size of your pores is to use aloe vera. The gel of the plant can help moisturize and tighten your skin which means that there will be less visible pores the more you use it. First, you need to cleanse your face before applying the gel on the affected areas. Massage for a few minutes then leave it on for about 10 minutes. Rinse it off afterwards with cool water. Make sure that you use fresh aloe vera for this to get the best results.

Sugar scrub

You can also make your own sugar scrubs if you want to reduce the size of the pores on your skin because they can help remove any impurities as well as excess oil on your skin. For this remedy, you will need to combine a tablespoon of olive oil, two tablespoons of sugar, and a couple of drops of lemon juice. Rub the mixture on your skin for about 20 to 30 seconds before washing off with cool water. You can do this twice a week to reduce the size of your pores.

Papaya

Another option to try for your open pores is papaya. Papaya contains certain enzymes that can help with toning as well as tightening the skin. It can also help purify the skin since it has the ability to remove any clogging on the skin. You should mash a few pieces of ripe papaya then apply on your face. Leave it on your face for 20 minutes then rinse afterwards.

Don’t forget to use baking soda when it comes to open or large pores. What’s great about baking soda is that it acts as an exfoliating agent that can help remove any clogging on your skin. Another plus to baking soda is that it can help regulate the pH levels of your skin while fighting off any acne or pimples that may appear. In this home remedy, simply combine two tablespoons of baking soda with lukewarm water until you create a paste. Apply it on your face and massage in circular motion for a couple of minutes. Rinse it off afterwards with cool water. You should do this every day for a week then reduce to 3 to 5 times in a week.
