There are many different reasons why your scalp is terribly oily. Hormonal imbalance, an unhealthy diet and poor hair care strategies are just some of them. Baking Soda

Sprinkling baking soda on your scalp can help remove excess oils, thus putting your problem to an end. This home remedy can also make your scalp and hair smell really clean as baking soda is capable of absorbing bad odor as well. It’s a good idea to let baking soda stay on your scalp for a few minutes before brushing or tousling your mane.

Lemon Juice

The natural acidity of lemon juice makes it an excellent home remedy for a greasy scalp. All you have to do is grab a medium-sized lemon and squeeze out all of its juice into a bowl. Dilute it with a glass of water, and then stir. Shampoo your hair and use the mixture as your final rinse. Allow to hair to air dry.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Since it’s acidic just like lemon juice, you may also use apple cider vinegar to eliminate excess oils on your scalp. Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water, and massage on your scalp. Squeeze out excess afterwards and allow to air dry. Don’t worry, your hair won’t smell of apple cider vinegar once it’s completely dry.

Beer

Alcohol present in beer can strip off excess oils, and that’s why pouring this beverage on your scalp can help put an end to your problem with grime. Make sure that you allow beer to stay in place for about 5 minutes — putting on a shower cap can help do the trick. Afterwards, thoroughly wash your scalp and hair under running water.

Aloe Vera Gel

Last but not least, consider switching to hair care products that do not contain harsh chemicals in them. When they cause dryness and irritation, your scalp will try to produce more oils as a way of protecting itself, and this can leave both your hair and scalp really greasy.
