Essential oils are typically used in aromatherapy sessions and even for giving your space that nice scent that can help you feel relaxed and stress-free. But is this the only use for these oils? Surprisingly, essential oils like lavender, lemon, rosemary, and the like can also be used to treat your hair, whether it is for hair loss, split ends, or dull and dry hair.

So how can you use essential oils to make your hair stronger, healthier, and free from split-ends? Here are some essential oils that you can use to treat your hair to combat split-ends.

Cedarwood essential oil

Cedarwood is known for its ability to stimulate hair follicles and to boost hair growth. When used regularly, it will help make your hair stronger, prevent frizz, and even repair split ends.

Clary sage essential oil

This essential oil is also known for promoting hair growth while keeping hair loss at bay. Another benefit to using clary sage is that it works as a natural antidepressant. This is particularly useful on those days when you’re feeling down. This essential oil can be absorbed fairly quickly through the hair follicles.

Lavender essential oil

Another essential oil that is good for repairing split ends is lavender. Lavender is a known hydrator and has the ability to condition your hair deeply so that it repairs any split ends, dry scalp, and even keeps your hair strands from breaking too.

Peppermint essential oil

Peppermint is often used for those times when your energy level is just going down. But this essential oil can also be used to stimulate your scalp for healthier hair growth. It also regulates oily hair so less dandruff woes.

Rosemary essential oil

You can also use rosemary essential oil to enhance your hair’s growth. When it comes to hair care, this essential oil is often on top of the list as it is linked to healthy, frizz-free, and shiny hair. It can hydrate your hair so that it won’t easily break.

Tea tree essential oil

This particular essential oil is useful for treating split ends because it has anti-fungal and stimulating properties. It can enhance hair growth, treats dandruff as well as cradle cap, repels lice, and even prevent hair loss from occurring.

How to Use Essential Oils

When it comes to treating split ends using essential oils, you have two options to consider and these are:

Split End Pre-Wash Treatment

In this recipe, you will need 2 drops of clary sage oil, carrier  oil, and 2 drops of lavender oil. You will need to combine these ingredients with 1.25 ml of carrier oil then apply liberally all over your hair and scalp. Let the solution set for 20 minutes or, if you want a longer soak, leave it on overnight. Wash your hair as usual. This treatment should be used once a month to help repair and prevent split ends from occurring.

Split End Leave-In Hair Treatment

This leave-in hair treatment is guaranteed to repair and rejuvenate your hair so that split ends won’t be an issue. To make this solution, you will need 1- to 20 drops of rosemary oil, 10 to 20 drops of cedarwood oil,  and 10 to 20 drops of lavender oil. Combine all these ingredients in a spray bottle then shake well. Apply this solution on your hair after shampooing and while your hair is still wet. Focus more on the ends of your hair to tame split ends. You can also use this leave-in treatment to protect your hair against heat from your styling tools. When used regularly, you will find that your hair looks more luxurious and soft to the touch.
