Maintain dry hair

As much as you would like to feel the first drops of rain on your skin, and even showering as the downpour strengthens, you might want to reconsider because of the acids in the rain. This can make your hair appear dry and frizzy which is why you need to cover your hair up as much as possible or use an umbrella. If your hair gets wet because of the rain, make sure that you dry it as soon as possible.

Condition your hair

Frizzy hair is a common problem during monsoon because of the high humidity levels, but this won’t be a problem when you apply conditioner that is nutrient-rich. Use this on the ends of your hair then rinse off with cold water, not only will this make your hair soft and smooth, but it will also get that extra shine as well. You can also choose a leave-in conditioner if you want to create a protective layer on your hair strands especially from the rain.

Shampoo hair twice a week

Some people believe that they shouldn’t wash their hair regularly when the rain begins because it may weaken their hair strands, but this is not so. It’s important that you wash your hair two or three times a week. This way, you will be able to get rid of any build up of dust, dirt, and oils on your scalp and hair so that you won’t have to deal with dry and frizzy hair all the time.

Take note of your styling

Wearing tight ponytails may help keep your hair away from your face during rainy season, but it does not help fight off frizz. This is because rainwater can get trapped in your hair strands which can leave it limp and even frizzy too. Go for loose ponytails instead to help free your hair up.

Choose the right comb

Another tip to maintaining healthy hair when it is rainy season is to use the right type of comb. Since your hair gets frizzy at times and unmanageable, you will be dealing with tangles quite often. That said, it is always a good idea to use a wide tooth comb because not only does it help remove tangles, it keeps your hair from falling off too. Make it a habit to comb your hair several times in a day. When choosing a comb, it would be a good idea to use a wooden comb as it prevents breakage.

Who would have thought that these simple tips can actually help keep your hair looking great even when there is monsoon? The good news is that these are all easy to maintain which is why it is always a good idea to take care of your hair especially when the rain starts to pour.
