Ways on How to Fight Off that Groggy Feeling in the Morning

Must read

It’s such a great feeling to wake up in the morning fully refreshed and eager to get the day started. But if your mornings are usually accompanied with a feeling of grogginess, then you need to do something about your routine so that you’ll feel in better spirits the next day. So how will you be able to fight off that groggy feeling when you wake up? Here are a few ways that you can try.

  • Don’t watch TV before you go to bed. The quality of your sleep plays a role on how you feel the following day, so if you always watch TV before going to bed, you’ll most likely wake up feeling groggy. This is due to the light coming from your TV that is actually affecting your sleep. Turn off your TV an hour at least before bed time.
  • Skip the snooze button. If you’re used to setting up several alarms per day, it is time to break this habit. This actually makes you feel groggy in the morning. What you should do is to just stick with one alarm. This is much better compared to hitting the snooze button then going back to sleep until the next alarm rings.
  • Keep to a schedule. Another trick to keeping grogginess at bay is to keep a regular schedule of waking up. This will teach your body to go to full waking phase when your alarm rings so you won’t feel groggy.
  • Prioritize exercise. If you don’t want to wake up feeling groggy all the time, make it a point to exercise early in the morning. It doesn’t matter if you’re just going out for a brisk walk, do yoga, or even HIIT, as long as you exercise in the morning it will help combat that groggy feeling.
  • Take a shower. That groggy feeling when you wake up can actually be dispelled by taking a quick shower. Try alternating hot and cold water to revive your spirits. For sure, you’ll be fully awake by the time you step out of the shower.
  • Keep your windows open. Sleeping with your windows open can help natural sunlight to filter in the following day which can make your mornings more pleasant and less groggy for you as you get out of bed. If you can’t open your windows, you can leave your curtains open to allow the light to pass through.
  • Choose happy songs. If you rely on your alarm to wake you up the following day, instead of the soothing or slow songs, try something happy. A happy tune can be a pleasant way to wake up plus you’ll feel much better too.
