Most women feel excited at the prospect of learning that they are pregnant, but as the weeks progress, their happiness may get dampened with the effects of morning sickness that can hit them any time of the day. Statistics show that about 70% of pregnant women deal with morning sickness and about half experience vomiting. Usually, morning sickness happens during the sixth or seventh week of pregnancy and peaking at the 8th and 9th week. That being said, if you wish to alleviate the symptoms of morning sickness, these remedies are worth trying out.

Drink ginger tea

Ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory properties which can help reduce any inflammation that is causing nausea. Prepare some if you wish to alleviate your morning sickness.

Mint

Sniffing on something refreshing can help prevent you from vomiting if you smell something that irritates your nasal passages. Mint can help alleviate the nausea that you are feeling, so you might want to bring one in your bag for emergency purposes.

Get more liquid

For pregnant women who also have to deal with vomiting, you need to ensure that you are drinking adequate amounts of liquid to replace the ones you have lost. You can even prepare some watermelon ice pops to alternate with drinking water. Not only will this help you cool down, but it will also keep you from vomiting too.

Lavender essential oil

Diffusing some lavender essential oil in your room can help you feel calm and relaxed which can ease up the symptoms of morning sickness. You can even add a few drops of this essential oil on your pillow, so you will be able to inhale its relaxing scent as you lie in bed.

Exercise

Exercising may be the last thing in your mind right now, but it does help reduce the effects of morning sickness. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should do extreme workouts, as this will only contribute to your feeling nauseas, but light workouts such as walking or swimming, can release those feel good hormones in your body which can counteract your morning sickness.

There are other remedies that you can try to help you deal with morning sickness aside from those that have been mentioned above. The good news is that morning sickness doesn’t last long, so try these remedies out, to help you get over this hurdle as a pregnant woman.
