The struggle is real when it comes to eliminating fat and most of us know how difficult it is to go on a diet that we just can’t sustain. For the most part, a lot of people have a hard time keeping away from sweets and salty snacks, not to mention carbohydrates too. The idea of going vegan sounds good at the start but once you eliminate those foods that you frequently eat, you’ll feel hard-pressed to continue. But does losing weight always have to be a struggle? Not really.
If you want to start lean eating to ditch the excess weight, then these basic rules should be followed. Once you get the hang of this type of diet, you will find it easier to manage your weight in no time.
Don’t eliminate the carbs
Going cold turkey on carbs doesn’t always get results which is why health experts that, instead of eliminating them immediately, you should gradually remove them from your diet. When you reduce the amount of carbs that you eat, you are actually helping your metabolism to speed up. There are six types of carbs that you should eliminate slowly from your diet and these are: foods with added sugar, refined grains, whole grains and starches, fruit, non-green vegetables, and vegetables. Start with the first two then when you still don’t see any progress with your weight loss, proceed to the next. Make sure that you remove one type of carb every three weeks until you see results.
Although fruits contain carbohydrates and that they are part of the group that you will need to reduce or ditch at one point, there are some types that are high in antioxidant content which can actually help you with your weight loss goal. However, there is a rule that you need to follow when it comes to fruits and that is to eat less when you are sedentary and more when you are an active person. Keep in mind that fruits contain starch which can add to your weight gain if you don’t eliminate it properly.
Spike your protein intake
We all know that protein is good for burning fats and building muscles, but too much amino acids is not always recommended. A better option would be to let your protein levels spike then let them fall and back again. In order for you to achieve this, you should take around 30 grams of protein every 4 hours to keep your body burning fat.
Drink plenty of water
Another rule to lean eating is to actually drink a lot of water. Water is essential to your health as it can help flush the toxins from your body while keeping you hydrated. This can also keep your tummy full for hours which reduce the food that you eat during meal times. You can also have tea like green tea and a little bit of coffee but try to avoid liquid calories as much as possible. Soda, fruit juices, and energy drinks are examples of products that contain high amounts of calories that can prevent you from losing weight.
Follow a diet you can sustain
Yes, there are plenty of diet programs for you to choose from but many find them difficult to sustain. Instead of going all out or nothing, aim for the average where you start slow but still be able to sustain the diet for a long time. This is much better compared to struggling with overly complicated diet programs that you can’t keep up for a long time.
