How to Slow Down Aging Naturally

Aging may be a natural process that we all experience as we get on in years, but this doesn’t mean that we will quietly accept the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on our face and neck because of it. Most of us rely on skin care and anti-aging products to retain our youthful look and glow to our skin, but it seems that we need to consider other alternatives to keep our skin looking amazing. Fortunately, when it comes to maintaining youthful skin, there are a few tips that we can start on. Here are a few that can help you out.

Skip the sugar

Most of us are guilty of binging on sweets when we are feeling blue, but the artificial sweeteners that are present in them can wreak havoc to our skin. Excessive consumption of sugar-laden sweets can reduce the amount of collagen as well as elastin that our body produces hence our skin is no longer elastic. If you want to protect your skin from sagging and other signs of aging, skip the sugar and you will see some improvement soon.

Apply sunscreen daily

Another tip that can help you protect your skin from aging is to wear sunscreen on a daily basis, preferably one that has a high-SPF content. You see, exposure to the sun’s rays can affect our skin cells since the UVA and UVB rays can penetrate our skin easily. Be liberal when applying sunscreen every time you go out and make sure that you re-apply as indicated on the bottle. This way, you will be providing further protection to your skin so it won’t suffer from the effects of aging.

Fight stress

Most of us don’t realize that stress can also play a part in causing those fine lines and wrinkles on our face. The constant frown that we are wearing, the pursing of our lips, and even the effects of stress to our immune system can all play a part in speeding up aging. With that being said, finding an outlet to our stress can help provide us with relief and can even help clear the toxins from our body too which are also responsible for speeding up the aging process.

Reduce your alcohol consumption

There is nothing wrong with having a glass or two of wine or beer with your friend or while you are having dinner but drinking too much than the recommended amount can be harmful to your skin. For one thing, drinking a lot of alcoholic beverages can dehydrate your skin while dilating your blood vessels. This can lead to broken blood vessels that appear as red marks on the skin that can be accompanied by small bumps too.

Drink more water

This is probably the simplest way for you to slow down aging naturally. We need water in our body as it helps with the different functions of our organs. Unfortunately, most of us tend to forget that we need to drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water per day hence our skin appears to become dull and dry. Regularly hydrating your body not only keeps aging at bay, but it can also flush out the harmful toxins in the body that is causing signs of aging from appearing too.

Add more antioxidant-rich foods

It would be a good idea to load up on foods that are rich in antioxidants such as fresh leafy greens, wild-caught fish, nuts, and the like as they can help keep your collagen and elastin production running smoothly.
