Three Ways to Stop a Pimple from Growing

Must read

Waking up to a tender and painful spot on your face is one of the worst ways to start a morning. You can’t see it yet but you can definitely tell that it will be a huge pimple from the redness and soreness of that area on your skin alone. It would be dreadful to see that pimple show the following day. Thankfully, there are a few things to prevent just that.

Before you begin the treatment process, it is best to start off with the basic cleansing routine.

First, wash your face with antibacterial soap or cleanser using warm water. The warm water will open up your pores, allowing the treatments you’ll use to absorb better.

Next, soak a washcloth in hot water and hold it in the area where you feel the pimple growing for a minute or so. This will allow the pores in the area to open up further in order for the treatments to easily reach under-skin zits. Then, follow any of these three ways to stop a pimple from growing:

Method 1.

Before anything else, steep a teabag in hot water for several minutes. While doing this, use a cotton ball to apply an antiseptic on the area, such as white vinegar or lemon juice. Then, take the teabag out of the hot water and let it cool for a minute or so. After cooling, wipe it on the area. The tea can draw out hidden pimples allowing other treatments to work more effectively and the tannins in the tea can work as an anti-inflammatory.

You can then apply a paste of ½ teaspoon milk and 1 teaspoon yeast on the area before going to sleep. The yeast will kill pimple-causing bacteria and the milk will work as anti-inflammatory. Wash in the morning and apply a small amount of benzoyl-peroxide if you want.

Method 2.

Gently scrub the area with a paste of baking soda and water. The baking soda will help dry out the pimple. Wash afterwards.

Scoop the insides of a tomato and mix it with honey. Apply the mixture on the area. The tomato contains salicylic acid which helps fight pimple-causing bacteria. After several minutes, you can wash it off. Wrap an ice cube in a cloth and press over the area for a few minutes to prevent inflammation.

Method 3.

For a simpler solution, apply a paste of crushed aspirin and water on the area. After 10-15 minutes, wash it off. Then, apply a non-gel, fluoride-free toothpaste on the area and leave it overnight. Toothpaste dries out the pimple and prevents it from growing. However, toothpaste can be harmful to the skin so make sure to apply it on the area alone and leave the surrounding skin free from toothpaste. Wash in the morning.

Treating a growing pimple is best done in the evening before going to sleep. Avoid prodding and poking the sore area to prevent it from growing into a full-blown pimple.
