Who doesn’t want to have soft and smooth skin all the time? There is a common misconception that applying lotions alone can do the trick of making our skin soft but keep in mind that the more we lather on various skin care products, the more it can cause our skin to look dull because we are clogging our pores with tons of products. This won’t do at all. If you want to have the smoothest skin there is, you should make it a point to use sugar scrubs to slough off dead skin cells that may be lingering on the surface of your skin. Sounds good? Here are some sugar scrub recipes for you to try.

Oatmeal and Brown Sugar

One of the simplest scrubs that you can do at home is to make oatmeal and brown sugar body scrub. This recipe is perfect for all skin types, including sensitive skin, as it can exfoliate the skin gently while soothing it at the same time. The olive oil included in this recipe is for adding moisture so that the scrub will adhere to one another. You will need ¼ cup of olive oil, half a cup of ground oatmeal, (use coffee grounds if you want a more invigorating mix), half a cup of brown sugar, and a few drops of your choice of essential oil. Simply combine all the ingredients in a small bowl until you create a paste then store in a container with tight lid. Store in a dry place for a month. You need to wet the area that you want to exfoliate first then apply the scrub in a gentle, circular motion. Rinse afterwards.

Green tea

Green tea scrub is the best option for those days when you just want to rejuvenate your senses after a long day at work. Exfoliate while in the shower then off to relaxation you go. For this scrub, you will need to prepare 2 green tea bags, a cup of white sugar, as well as ½ to ¾ cup of coconut oil (soft or melted). You will need to remove the contents of the tea bag and put them in a blender along with the rest of the ingredients. Blend until all the ingredients have mixed and you got the desired consistency. Store it in a tight container and use as needed.

Banana

Another DIY sugar scrub that your skin will love you for is banana sugar scrub. What’s great about bananas is that they have this light moisturizing property that can also regulate oil production on your skin. This is the perfect option for you if you want to address oily parts of your skin. If you have sensitive skin, skip the sugar and just use oatmeal for a gentler exfoliation. For this recipe, you will need a ripe banana, ¼ teaspoon of vanilla, and a tablespoon of brown sugar. Combine all the ingredients and mix them well. Just not too well though as this can make your mixture too thin to exfoliate your skin. Apply the mixture on your skin while you are in the shower and leave it on for about a minute or two. Massage on your body using gentle, circular motions. Rinse afterwards.
