Solve Anal Itching Woes with These Remedies

Must read

Anal itching causes discomfort not to mention a source of embarrassment especially when the urge to scratch occurs in public areas. There are many factors that contribute to anal itching such as haemorrhoids, digestive problems, and anal fissure which can make it impossible to sit down comfortably. When the anal itch is due to constipation or diarrhea, the best course to take is to treat the underlying factor first. An increase in fiber intake can provide relief for your digestive tract and your anal opening too. Medications are available as well to help reduce inflammation and pain but if you are looking for alternative treatments, you might want to try these ones out.

Use an ointment or cream. The anal area can be tender when there are fissures or inflammation present. A quick fix for this is to apply cream or ointment to soothe the damaged area. You can purchase an over the counter medication or your physician can prescribe you with one.

Apple cider vinegar. Fungal and yeast infections can also be the culprit when it comes to anal itching. The good news is that with the aid of apple cider vinegar, you can find the relief that you are looking for. Start by adding two tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water and drink twice a day. You can also add a cup of apple cider vinegar in your water bath and soak in it for 15 to 20 minutes.

Wear cotton clothing. Another remedy to help alleviate the pain in your anal area is to wear loose clothing. You should also go for cotton underwear to allow the air to circulate to relieve the soreness and itching.

Coconut oil. Aside from being used in the kitchen, coconut oil is also considered as one of the best remedies for anal itching. This oil helps soothe the skin while its antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties can eliminate any infection not just in the anal area but also in the digestive system and the rest of the body. You can warm some coconut oil and apply on the affected area or you can take two to three tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil daily.

Sprinkle with some powder. To get rid of the itch, sprinkle some powder on the affected area and don’t forget to wear cotton underwear. The combination of circulating air and the soothing effects of the powder can help alleviate the constant itching especially when you’re outside the house. Re apply as needed.

Yogurt. If anal itching is caused by yeast infection, you can use yogurt to alleviate the problem. However, make sure that you choose probiotic yogurt that contains live culture or good bacteria to reduce the growth of the infection. Just apply some yogurt on the affected area and leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes or overnight if you want. Rinse afterwards with warm water and make sure that you dry the area thoroughly. You should also eat 2 to 3 cups of yogurt every day to speed up the healing process.

Licorice. For those who are following Ayurvedic treatments, you’ll come across licorice as a solution to your anal itching as it contains anti-itching and anti-inflammatory properties. Roast equal amounts of cardamom, licorice, and rind of Chebulic myrobalan. Grind these into powder. Mix ¼ teaspoon of the powder and a teaspoon of honey in a glass of water. Drink once in a day every day until you get relief from your anal problem.
