Signs and Symptoms of Hormonal Imbalance

Must read

Have you ever wondered why you suddenly flare up for no reason? Or that you find yourself too tired to even move around the house? How about watching your weight go up? Perhaps what’s really triggering these symptoms is your hormones going out of whack. You may think that hormonal imbalance can only happen when you are in your menopausal stage but it can actually occur any time no matter what your age. You can easily spot when your hormones are not properly balanced because these symptoms are most likely to appear:

  • Increase in belly fat. Stress on the endocrine system can prevent your body from producing certain types of hormones while elevating cortisol. When this happens, your body starts to store fat in your body, especially along your midsection, causing you to gain weight. So if you ever notice that your belly is starting to grow big, you might be suffering from adrenal fatigue.
  • Insomnia. Another possible symptom that is linked to hormonal imbalance is insomnia or lack of deep sleep. When your hormones are going up and down, your body cannot reach a calm and relaxed state which is why it is sometimes difficult to drift off to sleep. Unfortunately, if you do not fix your hormones immediately, insomnia can take a toll on your health.
  • Low libido. Having trouble performing in bed? Yes, hormonal imbalance can do that to you. Since you are not getting enough sleep because your hormone levels are fluctuating, your sex hormone production will take a hit too.
  • Acne breakouts. Acne breakouts are also another sign of hormonal imbalance and not just because of the greasy food that you are eating. Changes in your hormone can cause an overproduction of sebum which can clog the pores on your skin thus causing acne to appear.
  • Fatigue. Do you find yourself getting low in energy even before you reach your lunch period? Have you been experiencing some sort of crash during the afternoon and that you need to have your coffee fix just to perk up? Just so you know, it’s not really normal to feel sluggish or even mentally fogged which is why you need to consider whether your hormones have something to do with this. Fortunately, you can fix this problem by making some changes to your diet such as removing wheat and other types of grains so that your blood sugar levels will remain balanced throughout the day.
  • Digestive problems. Hormonal imbalance can also trigger digestive problems or cravings when you least expect them. Stomach problems like bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, and others can ruin your day. Also, when cravings start to kick in, you might end up eating more than is necessary hence you tend to gain weight.
