While it’s true that you can eat green bananas, they’re nothing like ripe bananas.

That’s because green bananas are waxy and fibrous, plus they taste so differently from ripe bananas. Especially if you fail to chew them properly, it’s not unlikely for you to end up with a tummy ache.

But despite of this, green bananas are still good for you. That’s because they still supply your body with potassium that makes ripe bananas very popular among people with hypertension.

Green bananas also have magnesium that helps in lifting the mood, thus combating depression.

Nutritionists say that green bananas are good sources of B vitamins that not only help energize the body by converting food into fuel, but also promote healthy nerves.

And just like ripe bananas, green bananas are excellent sources of fiber. In fact, experts say that green bananas are better for diabetics than ripe bananas because they are higher in fiber and lower in sugar.

Clearly, there is no reason for you to loathe those green bananas — except maybe for their texture and taste.

Slice peeled green bananas in half crosswise. Afterwards, chop them up into 1/2-inch thick strips.

Using medium-high heat, deep-fry green banana strips in hot vegetable oil. Wait until they’re golden brown, which can take anywhere from 5 to 7 minutes. If necessary, cook them in small batches.

Transfer cooked green banana fries on a large plate that’s lined with several pieces of kitchen paper.

After a few minutes, remove kitchen paper and sprinkle with a little sea salt and finely-ground black pepper. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce like ketchup, mayonnaise or mustard.

That’s how quick it is to turn those green bananas that you have a hard time enjoying into fries that you will surely love snacking on! They’re perfect especially when you have health-conscious visitors dropping by.

Homemade green banana fries are the perfect alternatives to French fries that you can easily order from fast food joints because they are not packed with saturated fat and cholesterol.
