Age Spots Begone with These Natural Remedies

Must read

It doesn’t matter what color your skin is, age spots are sure to appear once you are beyond the 60s mark. These age spots tend to appear on areas that are often exposed to the sun such as the face, neck, and hands. Fortunately, age spots are not something to worry about because they are completely harmless. However, they can be unsightly at times but the good news is that you can make them disappear with the help of some natural remedies. Here are some that you might want to try out.

  • Apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar contains alpha hydroxy acids which can help reduce the appearance of age spots on y our skin. Since the vinegar is acidic in nature, you can prevent dryness by combining it with some olive oil. You only need to apply it on your skin and wait for 20 minutes before rinsing. It might sting at first but your skin will get used to the treatment. If you have sensitive skin, make sure that you dilute the vinegar first before applying directly on your skin.
  • Lemons. You will never go wrong in using lemons to alleviate the appearance of age spots on your skin. For one thing, lemons have bleaching properties which can help lighten the dark spots on your hands and face. You only need to slice a lemon and rub it on the affected area to treat age spots. Just make sure that you don’t go out immediate afterwards as this can cause the skin to darken.
  • Horseradish. Horseradish contains vitamin C that inhibits the production of melanin which is the one responsible for skin pigmentation. This ingredient can also help flush the toxins from  your body while boosting circulation for faster healing. You can make a paste out of horseradish and use it on the age spots. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes then rinse afterwards.
  • Onions. You can also use onions to treat age spots thanks to their antiseptic properties. The acids that are also contained in onions can act as exfoliating agents to remove dead skin. Although the smell isn’t exactly appealing to the senses, this is a good alternative to vinegar and lemons. You only need to slice some onions and rub the slices on the affected area and let the juice sit for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing. Do this three times a day on a daily basis and you will see an improvement in your skin’s condition for sure. If you want to increase the efficacy of this treatment, simply combine a tablespoon of onion juice with two tablespoons of honey and apply on the age spots. This will speed up the healing process so your age spots will disappear soon.
